Beach Please - Pair of French Watercolor & Ink Figure Studies

A fantastic pair of original French works on paper, full of loose linework, warm color, and wonderfully observed everyday moments. One depicts two figures seated beneath market umbrellas, surrounded by quick impressions of people, stalls, and movement. The second is more intimate—a pair of reclining figures rendered with just a few confident strokes and washes of warm brown, blush, blue, and black.

The artist works with an especially free hand, combining fluid ink lines with transparent watercolor washes that give both pieces the immediacy of sketches made on location.
