Colette Pujol Floral Still Life

A wonderfully expressive floral still life by Colette Pujol (1913–1999), a Brazilian painter, draftsman, and teacher whose formal artistic training took her from São Paulo and Salvador to Paris. Pujol studied painting with Antonio Rocco and later at the Escola de Belas Artes in Salvador under Presciliano Silva. In 1946, she received a French government scholarship to continue her studies in Paris, where she attended the École des Beaux-Arts and Académie Julian, remaining in Europe until 1949. Guiadas Artes

Her career extended well beyond her own studio practice. After returning to Brazil, Pujol established a private painting and drawing school and later taught at the Associação Paulista de Belas Artes. Pujol worked across landscapes, figures, still lifes, and particularly florals; documented works include numerous paintings of flowers in oil on canvas, board, and panel.
